On Friday afternoon there was a get-together at the Garden Museum to formally introduce all the "new" staff who have come to work (paid) mainly behind-the-scenes....it's been feeling distinctly like "them and us" since the beginning of the year.... we also had some updates regarding the proposed "Phase 2" of the development of the Museum.  I think ( Read more... )

Yesterday afternoon a little tea party was held at the Garden Museum for Jess, the museum manager, who is leaving (tomorrow).  It will be sad to see her go, she has been there for over four years (all of my two and a half) and seems to have been a real king-pin in the organisation. Earlier in the week I attended a social evening celebrating our current exhibition "The Plant Seekers", and the guest speaker was Michael Palin, well known these days for his travels, and of course being part of the Monty Python brigade in the past.  It was a very pleasant evening and Michael gave a very entertaining speech. ....the garden is full of them !! One can't walk anywhere at the moment without walking into them.... it feels a bit Catherine Zeta Jones in "Entrapment" ! trying to avoid walking into a web and wondering where said spider may have landed or be hanging from.... the webs are very elasticated. Last Thursday was a very busy day at the Garden Museum, it was the Chelsea Flower Show across the river in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea all week, so we had lots of "out-of-town" visitors coming to see us. What a lovely sunny morning it has been !! There was quite a bit of heavy frost first thing following low night-time temperatures, but well worth it to see to the clear blue sky for a few hours.

I've been a bit irritated lately over things that people have said they'll do then don't or some reason..... causing a little pink mist rather than the red mist I get very occasionally ! LOL
